A Death In Genoa
This month of July 2001 saw yet another in a series of escalating confrontations between the Industrial Banking structure, and the protestors who love them. This time in the beautiful little resort town of Genoa, Italy. The new Bush party line was, "We're doing this for the poor people". While, a side issue being raised by the banking elite this time was, "why must there always be violence whenever we have a meeting?" My answer would be simple, the people protesting obviously don't believe the meetings include adequate Labor and Civil Rights representation, or just simply no representation for them. Indeed, it just blatently looks like these guys have decided to carve the world up amongst themselves. Always a touchy issue, wealthy powerfull people wanting to discuss the future of the poor people. It's a social posture just begging for ridicule.Poverty exists because of Capitolism. The "powers" always plays this game of charades. For the ignorantly still confused people, the "powers" proclaim their own benevolence. We are trying to help you. Here they are trying to play the game of social diplomacy while really playing the game of hidden diplomacy. I honestly don't think the people of the world are lashing out in hostility at the G-8. I think more a lashing out for civility. Despite what our wonderfull and enlightened leaders proclaim to be doing. 99% of the wealth of this world resides in the hands of less than 5% of the population. Thats a truth for our time. That simple fact alone displays a tendency within our power elite to want it all. Actions speak louder than words. Charity, smarity, fact of the matter is they've won the game. This is about power. If Condoleezza Rice believes she is helping the poor, then I encourage her to do so. But the poor will not be benefitted until the amassing of wealth under the control of indivuduals is a thing of the past. To assume that they have to help us, and that this is out of the kindness of their heart, is an insult to our very humanity. It tries to say that we are just paranoid, and wouldn't know a good thing if we saw it. Which is to say we can't know a bad thing when we see it either. The protest is for true equality, that is the only concept that will be acceptable. The purpose of the Industrialist is to make profit. Profit is not born of equality, there must be imbalance for profit to occur. Our world, and our growing global community cannot succeed on the concepts of profit. The concept of profit is addictive, like to that of a drug. The competition with everyone becomes simply that. Competition with everyone. Profit becomes the prime motive, the only means of acquiring self esteem. Until only the bones of the kill remain, the meat has long since dried up. And we're left looking at each other the light of painful wisdom beginning to light in our eye. The beast is our culture, the bones the remains of our planet, when we finnally stop. And we will finnally stop. Our ingenuity is not keen enough to get us to the stars before we destroy ourselves. We are not intelligent enough to stop the rapine of our planet. That means its just a matter of time. There has never been a history on this planet that did not contain a degree of intrigue. The concept of globalism needs to be discussed globally. The concept of globalism needs to be discussed in each and every home on this planet. In a real sense, as a planet we sit at a threshhold. We can allow a power structure we know to be corrupt, continue to corrupt the earth for selfish gain. Or we can take this rare opportunity to step up for something different. Yeh, this stuff goes on all the time, and it'll still be going on well after your done doing whatever it is your doing at this time. It was going on long before this moment. If you were to browse "Howard Zinn's People's History of the United States", you will see, just here in America, we have struggled ever since we began. The reason this struggle occurs, is because of the good nature that exists in most of us. We know when someone is trying to take advantage of us. This good nature gives us the ability to observe wrong. Compells some of us to speak up, to encourage you to take note of something that concerns you. The struggle is between good and evil. This particular issue concerns economics. How much you will pay, and how you will live. It concerns your future. It created your past. Looking still deeper, we could say this meeting was a good illustration of the natural conflict that exists within humanity. We have always been in conflict in our world. Because we are in conflict within ourselves. That conflict comes out as conflict with those around us. That conflict then grows into the world around us, and becomes history. This conflict is necessary. It disrupts the illusion of materialism we try to cast over our eyes. That says everything is ok for me. Well, you are not alone. It must be ok for all of us. This conflict is not going away. This conflict is building. It has taken it's first life. The following are some links to maybe
